The same Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rule applies to our planes. Any child under the age of two can sit on an adults lap and not be charged for the flight. However, it is always recommended that each person have their own seat with proper restraint systems. Children over the age of two must have a reservation, too.

Clothing

On the rim of the canyon, near 7,000 feet the air will be cool in the early morning or in the evening. The temperatures in the canyon are very different the lower you go into the canyon, the hotter it gets. Shorts, a light shirt, and a windbreaker are recommended for the warmer months. Summer rains do occur n Arizona, too. Since the Hoover Dam weather is like the Las Vegas weather, wear clothing that is comfortable wearing in Las Vegas the morning of your tour.

Footwear

Ankle support and traction are a must in the Grand canyon. Shoes should be comfortable, broken in, and laced up tight to keep our feet secure.

Hat

A hat is good to have in the summer to keep your head covered up from the sun, and fill with water to pour over your head when it gets hot.

Sunglasses

Shields for your eyes is important for UV protection. The Arizona sun can be very strong.

Bandanna or scarf

Helps keep your neck cool when wet, lots of other handy uses too.

Sunscreen/Chapstick

SPF 15 or better for the strong Arizona strong is recommended.

Light Day Pack

Only if you prefer to carry this. It is not necessary for the tours and optional on the hiking trips. On hiking trips the guide carries a big pack for water, food, snacks, umbrellas and ponchos.

You will be able to see everything at the Hoover Dam except the Generator Rooms at the bottom.

We would be happy to accomodate anyone who needs a wheelchair lift. We will need 72 hours advance noticfication prior to travel. This is subject to availability. If you only need your wheelchair to get around when you get to your destination, we recommend you board the bus without your wheelchair. We will store the wheelchair on the bus for you to use at your tour destination.

Spring and Fall

Spring and Fall weather is extremely unpredictable. Be prepared for sudden changes in the weather during these seasons.

Summer

Summer temperatures on the South Rim, at 7,000 feet / 2,134 m, are relatively pleasant (50 - 80 °F / 10 - 20 °C). But at 2,400 feet / 732 m, inner canyon temperatures are extreme. Daytime highs at the river (5,000 feet below the rim) often exceed 100 °F / 38 °C. North Rim summer temperatures are cooler than those on the South Rim due to increased elevation. The North Rim is at 8,000 feet / 2,438 m above sea level.

Winter

Winter conditions at the South Rim can be extreme. The day can have snow, icy roads and trails, and possible road closures. Canyon views may be temporarily obscured during winter storms. In such cases entrance fees are not refundable. The North Rim is closed during winter.

The IMAX Theater is not close to the canyon and would take 45 minutes to 1 hour away from seeing the South Rim beauty. We show similar videos to the IMAX experience on the bus to the Grand Canyon.
