Mather Point Acrylic, 16" x 24"

Mather Point, near Grand Canyon Village, is one of the most popular view points. It is almost always crowded with people from all over the world and you can see some of them in the upper left of this painting. I did this acrylic painting in my best "Gunner Widforss' style" - a really wet, transparent technique.

Water and light change everything!

The suface of the water is what it's all about, just the surface. This kind of thing is grabbing me now. When I am on the River and the sun is lighting up the cliffs I can't take my eyes off the surface of the water! Also, using pastel instead of oil paint is my current joy!
