Train Tour

August 24th, 2010

I’ve tried to find a place on your web site to post a comment but couldn’t find one so here is an email that hopefully gets directed to the right people.

I booked the Canyon Limited Plus package for August 11-14, 2010.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. I have never been treated so well by so many people.

Check in at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel was fast, they had all of the information ready, they answered our questions and sent us to a very nice room.

Our tickets for the entire trip were ready and waiting at the Grand Canyon Railway Depot. The clerk explained the meal program and the times for the events.

We ate our fist meal at Max and Thelma’s restaurant and again enjoyed the service we received. The food was fresh and well prepared. The buffet had a good variety of menu items and the waiter was very attentive. We ate three additional buffet meals at Max and Thelma’s and we received excellent food and service each time.

The train ride to the South Rim was also very enjoyable, and even though the train broke down in route and we had to wait about an hour for a back up engine we didn’t mind it. We were entertained by a musician and the conductor for our car “Mark” kept us informed on the status of the backup engine and entertained us with local Arizona information.

We arrived at the Grand Canyon and were immediately taken by bus to another buffet lunch and then for a two hour tour of the South Rim. While we were staying overnight many on our train were only at the Canyon for the day trip. The Grand Canyon Railway adjusted their schedule and allowed for an additional hour at the Canyon for those going back the same day.

Our bus tour was guided by “Dick” who seemed to enjoy his job as a tour guide and bus driver. He was informative and provided information about the history of the Canyon, the Indians, the wildlife, and the plant life and ways the Indians used the different plants and herbs. Dick assisted all of the tour guests to make sure they got great photographs and family pictures.

When the tour was over Dick made sure we got to our hotel. We stayed at the Maswik Hotel and again were provided with a very nice room. When we checked in we found that our luggage had already been taken to our room. When we left the next day we left our luggage in the room and upon return to Williams, Az, Grand Canyon Railway Hotel we found our luggage had beat us to our room there.

I could write a lot more but I think I have got my point across that we had a great trip and enjoyed the trip.

Thank you
Fred Carl

South Rim Bus Tour

August 16th, 2010

My wife and I (Francis Borg) together with another Canadian Couple took your Day long Bus tour to the Grand Canyon. We went on Friday August 6th, 2010..
We were picked up by bus from Harrahs and taken to Planet Holywood. There we picked up by the tour bus that took us to The Canyon. It was an enjoyable trip with frequent rest stops for food and smoke breaks. The Canyon was fantastic and a sight to behold and well worth the ride.
The next best thing after the Canyon was your Great, Polite, and always joking Driver. His name was Brandon (if I am spelling it right). He made the trip seem shorter and it was a pleasure to meet him. He is also a very good driver as a couple of cars went in his lane as we were approaching our hotel and he avoided them with minimal fuss. I know cause I have driven a city bus in Toronto for 30years.
Thanks again and I would recomend this trip to anybody. The sights of mountain ranges and valleys on the way there also were breathtaking.
Yours truly,
Francis Borg

Tour Feedback

My wife, myself and our two adult children went on the Grand Canyon Tour this past Wednesday. Our driver was Capt. Ron Sparks. He really made the experience a great one. He’s really knowledgeable, funny, and an all around nice guy. I didn’t realize the trip from Vegas was as long as it was, but the movies and his great personality helped.

Grand Canyon Bus Tour

July 16th, 2010

Good morning. I rode on the Grand Canyon tour on Wednesday with your driver Ron. Please let me pass on my comments on the great job he did getting us there and back. He was very entertaining, informative and helpful in providing a wealth of information.

But, while that is important and good for customer service, let me make an observation regarding his expertise at the most important part of his job…. driving the bus. Not once through the entire day did the bus even come close to touching a warning strip on any road, nor did he show any sign of inattentiveness, boredom or any sign of getting tired or bored. He manuevered the bus around all obstacles well in advance, drove defensively and in a manner which gave me complete confidence throughout the entire trip. His driving style is very smooth and was a big part of the enjoyment of the day.

You should consider putting him in a position of driver training…

Well done!

Thanks for a great day,
Tom Marcucci
